The Congress party has secured a significant triumph by becoming the largest party in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra. This achievement positions them to establish a Mayor from their party to spearhead the city's civic administration, according to senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Tuesday.
Wadettiwar, leading the Congress Legislature Party, dismissed claims from BJP leaders of Congress corporators aligning with them as mere rumor-mongering. He assured that Congress has the necessary support in the corporation and there is no risk of BJP poaching their members.
The party is keen on appointing a loyal and experienced Congress corporator as Mayor, aiming to fulfill the mandate received from Chandrapur's residents. Collaborations with Shiv Sena (UBT) under the Maha Vikas Aghadi are also being explored, with the Sena potentially eyeing a stake in the Mayor's role.
