In a significant political development in Kerala, former MLA A V Thamarakshan and his faction have officially joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday. The move comes after Thamarakshan was expelled from the Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS) over allegations of anti-party activities.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar warmly welcomed Thamarakshan into the NDA fold during a meeting attended by leaders from various NDA allies in the state. This marks a new chapter for the politician, who initially entered the Assembly as part of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) before merging with JSS in 2009.

The merger of Thamarakshan's faction with the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), an NDA ally, was formally announced at a conference in Kochi last month, bringing the political shift to fruition.
