On Tuesday, the Lower House of Parliament was abruptly adjourned till noon following relentless slogan chanting by Opposition MPs during the vital Question Hour. The session, commencing at 11 am, was cut short by 11:08 when INDIA bloc MPs vocally targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.

The proceedings initiated with an obituary for Congress leader Surupsingh Hirya Naik, who passed away in December 2025. In an unexpected move, Congress MP KC Venugopal submitted an adjournment motion notice to discuss the controversial India-US trade pact, citing 'adverse consequences' for local industries and farmers.

The trade agreement, which reduces US tariffs on Indian goods to 18%, reportedly allows increased US agricultural exports to India. Venugopal expressed concern that the agreement details remain undisclosed to Parliament. Meanwhile, BJP workers celebrated PM Modi for securing this deal with US President Donald Trump during a party meeting at the parliamentary premises.

The Parliament's agenda includes a continued discussion on the motion of 'Thanks to the President's address' during the ongoing Budget Session. In the Lok Sabha, Sarbananda Sonowal moved the motion, seconded by Tejasvi Surya. Concurrently, Sadananad Master's emotional address in the Upper House included a poignant display of his artificial limbs.

The motion responds to President Droupadi Murmu's address, marking the commencement of the Budget Session on January 28. (ANI)
