Amidst high drama in the Lok Sabha, Union minister Giriraj Singh alleged a calculated move by the opposition to launch an attack on treasury benches Wednesday. The session witnessed a display of concern by women MPs from opposition parties, who brandished banners ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anticipated address.
The Prime Minister, however, was absent from the House. BJP member P P Chaudhary was delivering his remarks when opposition members stormed into the Well, targeting the treasury benches with protests against a trade deal with the US and the unreleased book by former Army chief M M Naravane.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, Singh criticized the opposition, labeling the premeditated move as a means to 'hold the Lok Sabha hostage' for several days. The minister's sharp rebuke highlighted escalating tensions within the parliamentary session.
