In a landmark election for Bangladesh, four minority candidates, including two Hindus, have won in the general elections. All were nominees of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which will form the new government. Notably, the BNP secured victories with Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Nitai Roy Chowdhury representing Hindu communities.
Joining them are Saching Pru, a Buddhist leader from the Marma ethnic group, and Dipen Dewan from the Chakma community, who also claimed a seat. This election showcased a significant increase in minority representation, reflecting the diverse political landscape in Bangladesh.
The BNP emerged victorious with a commanding two-thirds majority, signaling a shift in political dynamics. Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami achieved its best-ever performance.
