In a gesture of solidarity, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah met with Iranian Deputy Ambassador Mohammad Fathali to convey his condolences for the passing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Abdullah expressed a fervent hope for peace, highlighting the global ramifications of the ongoing West Asian conflict, which has entered its 11th day and resulted in over 1,700 fatalities across Iran, Lebanon, and Israel.

His visit, alongside Rajya Sabha MPs from Jammu and Kashmir, underscored a united front in empathy and support for Iran as the region grapples with turmoil exacerbated by tensions involving the United States and Israel.
