Disqualification Petitions Dismissed: A Political Saga in Telangana

The political tension in Telangana took a significant turn on Wednesday when Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar dismissed disqualification petitions against two prominent MLAs, Danam Nagender and Kadiam Srihari.

The pleas, submitted by the BRS and BJP MLA A Maheshwar Reddy, accused Nagender and Srihari of defecting to the ruling Congress party after their victory on a BRS ticket in the 2023 elections. Speaker Prasad Kumar decided to dismiss all such petitions against these MLAs, concluding the proceedings against a total of 10 BRS members.

Nagender, who faced criticism for contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unsuccessfully on a Congress ticket, expressed his commitment to democratic processes should the decision have gone against him. Similarly, Srihari's daughter, Kadiam Kavya, recently elected to the Lok Sabha representing Congress, adds another layer to this unfolding political narrative.
