Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has launched a fierce critique against the central government's handling of the ongoing LPG cylinder shortage, as the West Asia conflict continues to stress global energy supplies. During a press briefing in New Delhi, Raut condemned the government's failed assurances, highlighting closures in the restaurant sector and other industries due to the fuel scarcity.

Raut pointedly addressed what he described as a 'failed assurance' from the Modi administration, noting that the conflict between US, Israel, and Iran was never expected to impact India's LPG availability or lead to a price hike. "Restaurants in major cities like Mumbai are forced to shut down," Raut stated, adding that sectors like tile manufacturing in Morbi are equally affected. He sarcastically suggested PM Modi demonstrate his reported ability to generate gas from unconventional means.

The LPG shortage, exacerbated by Middle Eastern geopolitical tensions, has prompted the Union government to act under the Essential Commodities Act, prioritizing domestic supply for essential services while restricting commercial distribution. This move coincides with increased scrutiny from members of Parliament, with Congress and CPI(M) MPs pledging to challenge the government both in Parliament and through public campaigns, as citizens endure longer delays and higher costs for LPG refills.
