Usha Sambhaji Patil-Talegaonkar from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been elected as the president, and Dayanand Damodar Surwase from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as the vice-president of the Latur Zilla Parishad in Maharashtra. The announcement was made by an official on Tuesday following the election conducted on Monday.

Presided over by Additional District Collector Shilpa Karmarkar, the election saw both officials bag a total of 34 votes each, defeating Congress' Deepali Bhosale and Nageshwari Kendre who secured 25 votes each. The Zilla Parishad election, which took place on February 7, resulted in a hung council where no single party achieved a majority within the 59-member body.

The Congress emerged as the single largest party with 23 seats, followed by the BJP securing 18 seats, and the NCP with 12 seats. This outcome led to the necessary election for the key positions of president and vice-president within the council.
