The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) triumphed in securing the roles of president and vice-president for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Zilla Parishad in Maharashtra without any opposition on Wednesday.
Avinash Galande was appointed president while Jitendra Jaiswal took on the role of vice-president, according to an official announcement made during the elections held at the district collector's office premises.
In last month's election for the 63-seat Zilla Parishad, BJP emerged victorious with 23 seats, outpacing the Shinde-led Shiv Sena's 21 seats. Absence of Shiv Sena's factions during Wednesday's proceedings assured unchallenged appointments for BJP's candidates.
