The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced its second roster of 39 candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. Former state president and ex-Mizoram governor, Kummanam Rajasekharan, is set to contest from Aranmula, taking on the current Health Minister Veena George.
BJP's candidate list features significant names, including senior leader B Gopalakrishnan from Guruvayoor and K Ranjith, who will contest at Dharmadom against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Furthermore, former CPI MLA C C Mukundan has been selected for the SC-reserved Nattika seat in Thrissur after leaving his previous party.
This new list sees five women candidates, raising the total female representation by the BJP to 11. In total, the party has declared 86 candidates so far, selecting notable figures across various districts, while the candidates for Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram Central remain pending.
