No Quick Resolution in Middle East Conflict, France Persists in Mediation

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot indicates there's no imminent end to the Middle East conflict but says France remains committed to finding a long-term solution. France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has stated there is no clear short-term resolution to the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has escalated since October 7, 2023. Despite this, France is committed to seeking a durable solution.

Jean-Noel Barrot relayed this to reporters in Tel Aviv after discussions with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Saar. He emphasized that while a quick resolution seems unlikely, this cannot be a reason for inaction.

During his visit to Lebanon, Barrot voiced Paris' concerns over a potential Israeli ground invasion in southern Lebanon. He also underscored the importance of the Lebanese military's role in disarming Iran-backed Hezbollah, as urged by the Lebanese government.
