A tense incident unfolded at an AIADMK candidate introduction meeting in Tirupur, garnering significant attention on social media platforms. During the event, a party functionary forcefully removed a whistle worn by a musician, triggering a wave of online reactions and discussions.
The incident took place on March 28 as AIADMK's influential leader, S P Velumani, arrived to introduce candidates for the forthcoming elections. As part of the customary reception, a local musical troupe was entertaining attendees with percussion and wind instruments.
During the performance, the musician wore a plastic whistle around his neck, employing it sporadically with the drumbeats. A party aide, disapproving of the whistle, seized and discarded it, igniting speculation about its connection to the rival party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and their symbol, a whistle. The AIADMK has yet to make an official statement.
