Political parties in Kashmir have expressed approval of the magisterial probe ordered by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha into the Ganderbal encounter, where security forces killed a man claimed to be a terrorist.

The National Conference commended the swift action, emphasizing the need for a time-bound, impartial inquiry after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the deceased's family raised concerns about the 'militant' label.

Sajad Lone and Iltija Mufti also welcomed the probe, voicing hopes for transparency and accountability to restore public confidence amidst claims of a 'fake encounter'.
