In a heated political exchange, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Gaurav Gogoi rebuked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's assertions that Pakistani media supports Congress, also mocking the CM's previous comments on Rahul Gandhi's alleged body double from the Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2024.
Gogoi, speaking to ANI, described the Chief Minister as growing desperate, claiming the political ground was slipping beneath Sarma's feet. Meanwhile, Sarma had previously accused Gogoi and Congress of having Pakistani media backing, describing them as a 'left-wing liberal gang' aiming to dismantle the Sanatana ethos.
As Assam's political landscape braces for the upcoming Assembly elections on April 9, the BJP aims for a third consecutive victory, facing a Congress-led six-party coalition. The election campaigns intensify as Gogoi claims a wave of desire for change among the people discontented with a decade of perceived oppression under BJP's tenure.
