Congress leader K C Venugopal has initiated a legal challenge against a Haryana-based individual, Gaurav Kumar, over alleged defamatory statements meant to sully his reputation ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections.

Filed at the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Alappuzha, Venugopal's complaint accuses Kumar of making baseless claims timed strategically with electoral motives.

This development follows a separate FIR by Delhi police related to a 'ticket-for-money' scandal involving Congress affiliates, as investigations continue into the financial aspects of the allegations.
