Hungarian opposition leader Péter Magyar is poised for a rapid ascent to power following a decisive victory in Sunday's elections, where his Tisza party emerged with a two-thirds parliamentary majority. Magyar aims for a governmental transition in early May, highlighting a pivotal moment in Hungary's political landscape.

In a meeting with President Tamás Sulyok on Wednesday, Magyar was assured of his nomination for prime minister, with an inaugural parliamentary session expected as early as May 6. Magyar expressed that a swift transition is essential for fulfilling the electorate's overwhelming mandate, aiming for significant structural reforms.

Magyar has pledged to dismantle existing structures under Viktor Orbán's administration, proposing new ministries and suspending the state broadcaster's news programs until impartial conditions are established. He called on Orbán's administration to act responsibly during the transition, while urging Sulyok to resign post-transition.
