DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran claimed on Wednesday that the BJP government is leveraging the women's reservation amendment bill as a cover to implement delimitation, threatening the rights of southern states.
Maran, representing Chennai Central, accused the BJP, which lacks presence in Tamil Nadu, of undermining state rights. He urged Tamil Nadu residents to hoist black flags in protest and highlighted concerns about Prime Minister Modi's and Home Minister Shah's approach to governance.
As Parliament convenes special sessions to debate the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' amendment for 33% women's reservation in Lok Sabha and state assemblies, Maran vowed to resist the bill, set to redefine constituency boundaries by 2029 through delimitation.
