As voting kicks off in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, DMDK's general secretary, Premalatha Vijayakanth, expressed optimism for the ruling coalition's victory. She praised Chief Minister MK Stalin's leadership and anticipated his return to power, following her vote in the Virukambakkam constituency.

In conversation with the media, Vijayakanth asserted the certainty of the Secular Progressive Alliance's triumph, owing to the significant support observed during statewide campaigns. Early voting hours have already recorded a robust voter turnout of 37.57%, with notable participation in districts like Tiruppur, Namakkal, and Erode.

This electoral showdown, happening in a single phase across Tamil Nadu and Phase One in West Bengal, is generating intense interest. The DMK-led alliance faces off against the opposition AIADMK-led NDA, while actor-politician Vijay's new party adds intrigue to the race. Voting ends at 6:00 pm, with results expected on May 4.
