The Congress party staged a boycott of a special session of the Haryana Assembly on Monday. The session was called by the ruling BJP, which sought to push through a resolution condemning the defeat of a constitutional amendment bill designed to secure women's reservation in legislative bodies.
Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda criticized the session, accusing the BJP of politicizing the Assembly to serve its own agenda. The session proceeded amid Congress's absence, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini denouncing the boycott as "anti-women."
Saini defended the government's actions, stating that the resolution was intended to empower women. However, the Congress insisted it was a misuse of the Assembly's platform, while multiple speakers urged unity on the reservation issue, highlighting ongoing political tensions.
