In a dramatic development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj accused political interference in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) handling of a high-profile case. Bharadwaj alleged that the swift bail granted to the founder-director of the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) just after the West Bengal elections was a result of political manoeuvring.
Bharadwaj took to social media, indicating that the ED did not oppose the bail, raising suspicions about the agency's motivations. He called upon BJP and RSS supporters to introspect, suggesting that those currently in power might be misusing their authority. He further described the situation as a 'mockery of democracy'.
The allegations also mentioned central agencies' alleged influence during the elections. Bharadwaj suggested that I-PAC, associated with Mamata Banerjee's All India Trinamool Congress, faced raids and arrests that disrupted its election operations. The I'vent comes after a Delhi court, acknowledging ED's lack of opposition, granted regular bail to I-PAC Director Vinesh Kumar Chandel in the case.
