Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Punjab Congress president, has voiced strong criticism against the AAP government for its decision to hold a special session of the state Assembly on Labour Day. Warring termed the move a 'characteristic theatrical diversionary tactic' during a period of political turbulence following the defection of seven MPs.

With the session scheduled for May 1, Warring asked what genuine purpose it served for laborers when the government allegedly faces an 'existential threat.' He accused the AAP of using special sessions as distractions to avoid responsibility and highlighted Punjab's poor performance under MGNREGA, noting that fewer than 50% of registered laborers were covered by the scheme over four years.

He further charged that the session is not intended to benefit laborers but to shift public attention from AAP's internal crisis, following the defection of MPs to the BJP. In parallel, BJP plans a 'People's Assembly' to address public concerns, alleging that the special sessions prioritize political interests over public welfare.
