Kanimozhi NVN Somu, a prominent spokesperson for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has voiced skepticism over exit polls, maintaining confidence that her party will lead the forming of the government in Tamil Nadu. Speaking on Saturday, Somu underlined the party's distrust in surveys, even as some predict a ruling alliance victory.
According to various pollsters, including People Pulse, Matrize, and P-MARQ, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) is slated for a considerable majority in the 234-member Assembly. The projections estimate the alliance to secure 120 to 145 seats, with the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) trailing behind.
In addition to discussing the polls, Somu commented on the entrance of actor-turned-politician Vijay into the political arena. Despite his extensive fan base, Somu suggested that effective leadership should be gauged by a politician's service to the public rather than their popularity. The elections concluded with a significant 82.24% voter turnout.
