In a compelling address, Telangana Rakshana Sena founder K Kavitha called for a dramatic reimagining of India's Rajya Sabha, seeking to bestow upon it powers reminiscent of the United States Senate. Kavitha argued that such a transformation would allow the Rajya Sabha to play a decisive role in legislation affecting states, potentially stalling bills unless there is consensus among all federal units.
During a candid exchange at a press event, Kavitha asserted that representation should be equal among states, suggesting that even if some states lose constituencies through delimitation, they would maintain an equal footing in the Rajya Sabha. She promised to communicate her vision through detailed notes to the Prime Minister and a possible Delimitation Commission.
In addition to her legislative proposals, Kavitha launched the 'Panchajanya' initiative, outlining a vision for tackling issues specific to Telangana, including free education and healthcare, while alleging widespread corruption in major political parties.
