The Congress party is making a bid for a Rajya Sabha seat in Jharkhand as it pushes for political leverage within its alliance with the JMM. K Raju, AICC's Jharkhand in-charge, stated the party's contention that it deserves one of the two seats up for grabs in the state due to their legislative strength.
Despite reports of tension between the JMM and Congress in Jharkhand, Raju stressed the ongoing cooperation at the party level. He reiterated Congress's commitment to holding the state administration accountable on issues like land acquisition and mining, which, he says, is crucial for maintaining a healthy government alliance.
Raju accused the BJP of attempting to disenfranchise SCs, STs, OBCs, and minorities via a targeted Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He affirmed the Congress's proactive steps to safeguard tribal votes, highlighting efforts to monitor potential vote manipulations and ensure fair electoral processes in the state.
