The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu has accused the state's political factions, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), of conspiring to mislead the public about LPG cylinder prices.
The BJP's statement comes after the DMK and its allies criticized the central government for raising commercial LPG cylinder prices, demanding a rollback. BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy stressed that while commercial rates have seen fluctuations, the central government remains committed to easing the financial burden on households by subsidizing residential cooking gas costs.
He highlighted that India has avoided cooking gas shortages, unlike other nations, due to the government's timely interventions. The recent increase in commercial LPG prices—by Rs 993 per 19 kg cylinder—marks the third monthly rise, influenced by escalating global energy costs amid West Asia conflicts.
