BJP’s Electoral Dominance Continues in Assam Polls

In a decisive electoral performance, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured three seats in the Assam assembly elections and is leading in 78 others, according to the Election Commission. Their ally, the Bodoland People's Front, has captured one seat and is leading in nine more.
The Congress party is showing a strong presence in 20 seats, while the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), another BJP ally, has taken the lead in nine constituencies. The AIUDF and Raijor Dal are ahead in two constituencies each. The Trinamool Congress is leading in one seat, and an Independent candidate maintains a lead elsewhere.
As of 3 pm, results for four of the 126 contested seats were declared, following the April 9 elections. Notable victories include Minister Ranoj Pegu's Dhemaji win by over 32,229 votes, BJP veteran Hitendranath Goswami defeating Congress President Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leading significantly in Jalukbari.
