The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making substantial strides in the West Bengal Assembly polls, having so far claimed victory in six constituencies and leading in 196 others, signaling a possible shift in the state's political landscape.
According to Election Commission data, the BJP has scored wins in vital constituencies including Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Monteswar, Bhatar, Medinipur, and Asansol Dakshin. Notable wins include Bharat Kumar Chetri in Kalimpong and Sankar Kumar Guchhait in Medinipur.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) managed to retain Bhagawangola but faces significant challenges, with at least 23 of their ministers trailing. The ongoing vote count will determine control of the state's 294-member assembly in a crucial electoral battle.
