Vijay's TVK Gains Ground in Tamil Nadu Elections

Actor-turned-politician Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is making significant strides in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. On Monday, TVK was leading in 107 Assembly segments and second in 55 others as votes were counted following the April 23 elections.
According to the Election Commission's figures at 2:35 pm, TVK was trailing by fewer than 1,000 votes in six crucial constituencies. In Kumbakonam, candidate Vinoth was just 86 votes behind, while Karuppaiah MV in Sholavandan and Vijay Vadivel in Vikravandi were trailing by 100 and 102 votes, respectively.
The ruling DMK led in 57 segments, and AIADMK in 51. The magic number to form a government in Tamil Nadu is 118 seats, and TVK's performance could dramatically shape the political landscape in the region.
