Security forces intensified measures around West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Kalighat residence following orders from the Election Commission after a group raised 'Jai Sree Ram' slogans nearby, a senior official reported.
The directive included heightened security at the state secretariat 'Nabanna,' reflecting ongoing election tensions as the BJP led in 195 seats while the TMC trailed with 92 seats in the 294-member assembly.
An official clarified, 'Central forces have been deployed to prevent any law and order disruption. Strict action will be taken against any attempts to break the peace,' emphasizing that all political victory rallies are postponed until Tuesday for safety reasons.
