This victory adds to Bordoloi's storied political journey, which includes serving as a three-time minister in the Tarun Gogoi government and representing the Margherita constituency since a bypoll in 1998. His tenure as minister ended in the 2015 cabinet reshuffle, after which he served as a senior spokesperson and advisor to the chief minister.
The political veteran switched allegiance from the Congress to the BJP before the Assam assembly elections, resigning from his Lok Sabha seat representing Nagaon. His successful election campaign in Dispur highlights a new chapter in his political career aligned with the BJP.
