Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's Second Consecutive Defeat in Baharampur
Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury faced another defeat in Baharampur, losing to BJP's Subrata Maitra. Maitra won with 91,088 votes against Chowdhury's 73,540. This marks Chowdhury's second consecutive loss in his home region, following his defeat by TMC's Yusuf Pathan in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In a significant development, Congress's Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury faced a second successive electoral defeat in Baharampur. On Monday, BJP candidate Subrata Maitra secured victory with a margin of 17,548 votes.
Maitra managed to retain his seat by garnering 91,088 votes, surpassing Chowdhury's tally of 73,540. This win marks an improvement for Maitra, who previously scored 89,340 votes in 2021.
Chowdhury, despite enhancing the Congress performance from prior polls, could not overcome the BJP surge. His loss follows a previous defeat by TMC's Yusuf Pathan in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for the Baharampur parliamentary seat.
