Chezhiaan's Commanding Victory in Thiruvidaimarudur
Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan retained his Thiruvidaimarudur seat by winning with a margin of 14,116 votes. He secured 79,951 votes against TVK candidate S Prabakaran. Chezhiaan, a key figure in the DMK government, first became minister in 2024 after a cabinet reshuffle.

In a decisive electoral victory, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan defended his Thiruvidaimarudur assembly seat with a substantial lead of 14,116 votes on Monday.
According to the Election Commission, Chezhiaan amassed 79,951 votes, outpacing his closest competition, S Prabakaran from the TVK, who garnered 65,835 votes.
Chezhiaan was appointed as the Higher Education Minister in 2024 after a DMK cabinet reshuffle and had previously served as the chief government whip in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
