The CPI(M) on Monday criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for its "corruption, tyrannical rule and misgovernance" as West Bengal's election results were revealed, with the BJP emerging as a significant beneficiary. According to Mohammed Salim, CPI(M) state secretary, the BJP effectively filled the opposition void left unoccupied due to the failure of an electoral alliance with the Congress despite the Left Front's concerted efforts.

As reported by the Election Commission, the BJP secured 160 assembly seats and led in 48 constituencies as of late evening. Salim remarked, "People have given their mandate against the TMC's corruption, tyrannical rule and misgovernance." The CPI(M) maintains that the BJP leveraged religious divisions, exacerbated by state and central ruling parties.

Salim further accused authorities of creating a climate of intimidation through aggressive measures like mass name deletions and heavy central force deployment. Nevertheless, Salim expressed optimism, celebrating the election of a Leftist MLA in the Domkal constituency in Murshidabad. He reaffirmed CPI(M)'s dedication to defending public interests both within and beyond the assembly.
