Nail-Biting Finish: One Vote Decides Tamil Nadu Seat

In an unexpected twist during the Tamil Nadu elections, senior DMK leader and State Minister for Co-operatives, KR Periyakaruppan, lost the Tiruppattur Assembly seat by an incredibly slim margin of just one vote.
According to the Election Commission, Seenivasa Sethupathy R from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) clinched victory with 83,375 votes, compared to Periyakaruppan's 83,374. The nail-biting finish had seen Periyakaruppan leading by 30 votes towards the end of the penultimate round.
The outcome marks a significant political shift, highlighting the ascendancy of actor Vijay's TVK, which debuted as the largest party with 108 seats, disrupting the state's traditional bipolar political landscape. BJP's KC Thirumaran trailed with 29,054 votes in Tiruppattur's historic race.
