N. Rangasamy is poised to steer Puducherry's future after his party, the AINRC, led the NDA to victory in the UT's April elections. The NDA clinched 18 seats in the 30-member House, achieving more than the 16-seat majority required to form a government.
This marks the fifth term for Rangasamy, who first became Chief Minister as a Congress leader before founding the AINRC in 2011. Despite past alliances, the veteran leader's political acumen helped secure a decisive mandate this time.
The Congress, a previous dominant force in the UT, struggled significantly, raising questions about its future. Meanwhile, the new Assembly features both seasoned politicians and newcomers, with the NDA set to form a coalition government.
