Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that the electoral setbacks experienced by opposition figures such as Mamata Banerjee and M K Stalin stem from their opposition to the women's quota bill in Parliament. Speaking on Tuesday, Gupta attributed BJP's overwhelming victories in West Bengal and Assam polls to public disapproval of those who opposed the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
Gupta made her remarks at the Kalibari temple in CR Park, where she was joined by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Delhi's party chief Virendra Sachdeva among others. Gupta, the sole woman chief minister from the BJP, heralded the successes in West Bengal as a 'turning point' in India's political landscape, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the saffron surge.
Highlighting the decisive win of 207 seats in the 294-member West Bengal assembly, Gupta stressed that this shift signifies a strong endorsement of policies safeguarding women's dignity, safety, and empowerment. She lauded the women of Bengal for rejecting fear in favor of good governance, asserting that development and nationalism triumphed over appeasement politics in the regional political scene.
