Balasy, a key beneficiary of contracts under Viktor Orban's administration, has offered to hand his companies over to the new government taking office.

Under the leadership of Peter Magyar, who will assume his role as Prime Minister on May 9, Hungary intends to combat corruption and regain misappropriated state assets. Magyar's incoming administration follows his center-right Tisza party's victory in ousting Orban's government after a 16-year tenure.

Authorities have frozen accounts and seized funds linked to Balasy's companies, which played a significant role in Orban's political campaigns, including anti-Ukraine and anti-immigration initiatives. Transparency International cited that Balasy's firms secured 295 billion forints in state contracts from 2019 to 2021. The investigations signal a new chapter in Hungary's political landscape.
