The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a political ally of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), is set to convene on May 7 to decide its stance on supporting the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), led by Vijay in its bid to form a state government.
Thol Thirumavalavan, VCK's chief, acknowledged Vijay's request for support and emphasized that the party's senior officials' opinions would be taken into consideration before reaching a decision. The TVK is currently 10 seats short of a governing majority, despite securing an impressive 108 seats in their debut election.
Despite TVK's outreach, leftist parties and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) have declined to offer their backing. Meanwhile, CPI and IUML leaders reaffirmed their continued support for the DMK, even after recent meetings with its leader M K Stalin.
