BJP, JMM demonstrate in Jamshedpur on different issues

The BJP protested the alleged erratic electricity and water supply amid scorching heat, while the JMM demonstrated against increasing prices of LPG cylinders and inflation in front of the East Singhbhum district collectorate here. Criticising the union government, JMM spokespersons Kunal Sarangi and East Singhbhum district committee president Victor Soren said the increasing prices of domestic gas cylinders have forced people to use firewood again.

Jharkhand's opposition BJP and the ruling JMM on Thursday staged demonstrations on different issues. The BJP protested the alleged erratic electricity and water supply amid scorching heat, while the JMM demonstrated against increasing prices of LPG cylinders and inflation in front of the East Singhbhum district collectorate here. BJP's Jamshedpur Mahanagar Committee president Sanjeev Sinha and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das led the protest march. The party's women workers with pitchers took part in the march, expressing anguish over the alleged erratic load-shedding for hours from both urban and rural pockets and the water crisis. A memorandum addressed to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, handed over to Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan, a BJP delegation demanded that the prevailing crisis be addressed. Addressing the gathering, Das alleged that the JMM-Congress government has miserably failed to deliver on all fronts and provide basic amenities to the masses. On the other hand, women activists of the ruling JMM were seen carrying firewood on their heads to prepare tea during a demonstration against inflation and increasing prices of domestic gas cylinders. Criticising the union government, JMM spokespersons Kunal Sarangi and East Singhbhum district committee president Victor Soren said the increasing prices of domestic gas cylinders have forced people to use firewood again. The union government's indifferent approach to increasing prices made the lives of the general masses difficult, they alleged.
