Former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren on Friday expressed confidence that West Bengal will set new benchmarks for progress and development under the leadership of Suvendu Adhikari, who was elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party in the state. ''Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Sri Suvendu Adhikari ji on being elected as the leader of BJP Legislature Party in West Bengal,'' Soren said in a post on X. ''I am fully confident that under the guidance of the illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and your able leadership, West Bengal will set new benchmarks for progress and development,'' the BJP MLA from Seraikela said. Hailing women for strengthening the BJP in tribal-dominated regions, Soren said women played a decisive role in creating a favourable atmosphere for the party. ''From welcoming gatherings in villages to street-corner meetings, women power played the biggest role in building support for the BJP,'' he said. Soren alleged that in several cases, family members of women supporters were implicated in false cases, while some were distressed due to rising atrocities by TMC workers. He further claimed that others were affected by encroachments on the social fabric, while some wanted to stop migration caused by the closure of factories.
