The Communist Party of India (CPI) is mobilizing a nationwide campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government, alleging threats to India's secularism and democracy. D Raja, the CPI's General Secretary, announced the campaign while criticizing policies that he claims undermine workers' rights and democratic institutions.
Raja expressed concern over the BJP's ascent in West Bengal and its potential impact on communal harmony and the Constitution. He criticized the Special Intensive Revision exercise for allegedly disenfranchising numerous voters, and addressed various national issues, from unemployment to women's reservation, as focal points of the CPI campaign.
The CPI leader accused the Modi regime of prioritizing corporate interests and eroding democratic institutions. He stressed the urgency of Left unity and collaboration with secular democratic parties to safeguard India's pluralistic democracy and political landscape.
