As Congress prepares to announce Kerala's next chief minister, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) stated it will declare its stance post-announcement. On Wednesday, IUML's leadership assembled at the residence of its leader, Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, to discuss the situation.
IUML senior leader P K Kunhalikutty, after the meeting, said that the party has empowered Thangal to make subsequent decisions. 'We are awaiting Congress's decision from Delhi,' he told the press. The meeting addressed all related matters, ensuring Thangal’s autonomy over future IUML actions, contingent on Congress's concluding decision.
The delay in Congress's decision is viewed as 'natural' within democratic processes, despite not causing immediate administrative disruptions. However, several IUML and Congress members voiced concerns over the negative implications of prolonged uncertainty on public perception and electoral momentum post-victory. Amidst these pressures, Congress continues intense discussions about its leadership selection.
