Delhi's Visionary Logistics Policy: Paving the Way for an Efficient and Green Future

The Delhi government, led by CM Rekha Gupta, is finalizing a Logistics and Warehousing Policy to transform the capital into an efficient, eco-friendly logistics hub. The policy introduces modern infrastructure, promotes green practices, and aims to improve ease of doing business, attracting significant investments and generating employment.

The Delhi government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is on the brink of launching a transformative Logistics and Warehousing Policy. This initiative seeks to streamline freight movement, enhancing speed, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency whilst enhancing Delhi's ease of doing business.

According to a governmental press release, the policy will see the development of Urban Consolidation and Logistics Distribution Centres (UCLDCs) on the city's outskirts. These centers will handle bulk cargo, enabling organized entry into the urban area. Additional elements include localized storage hubs, micro-fulfillment centers, and the modernization of Inland Container Depots (ICDs), dedicated logistics corridors, and cold storage spaces near mandis to alleviate urban congestion.

Environmental considerations are integral to the policy, promoting electric vehicles for last-mile deliveries and advocating solar-powered warehouses. The establishment of an integrated logistics platform will further enable real-time tracking, making the system more transparent and efficient. Chief Minister Gupta noted that sectors like e-commerce will significantly benefit, with the policy anticipated to boost employment and attract investments through incentives and easing operational constraints.
