Amid growing internal strife in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the faction led by CV Shanmugam asserted the official appointment of C Vijayabaskar as party whip. This confirmation, disclosed exclusively to ANI, underlines ongoing power struggles within the party.

The declaration surfaces amidst increasing tensions, following disciplinary actions and rising dissent against AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS). On May 14, Shanmugam addressed the issue of heightened security at the party headquarters and maintained that true AIADMK members respect the premises deeply.

Shanmugam's criticism of EPS's leadership, accusing him of diluting party ideology and leading it to repeated electoral defeats, intensifies the turmoil. He claims several senior functions under the current leadership have been compromised, while disciplinary actions against certain leaders, including Shanmugam and Vijayabaskar, exacerbate internal conflicts.
