Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra has criticised the Centre over rising fuel prices, warning of potential lockdown-like conditions due to inflation and fuel shortages.

Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Tuesday criticised the Centre over rising fuel prices, alleging that people are facing hardship due to inflation and shortage of diesel and petrol.

He alleged that if the situation continued, lockdown-like conditions could emerge in the next 10 to 15 days, as vehicles may stop operating and industries could shut down.

Dotasra said fuel prices were increasing in phases and claimed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had earlier warned that fuel prices and inflation would rise after the West Bengal elections.

''At that time, BJP and Narendra Modi accused Congress of spreading misinformation, but the same situation is now prevailing,'' he told reporters.

''People are in great difficulty. Inflation is at its peak. Industries may close, and workers are not getting jobs,'' Dotasra said.

The Congress leader alleged that the Rajasthan government was engaged in ''event management'' to please Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

''They are travelling in EV buses and trains only for photographs and publicity, while they have no concern for public issues,'' he alleged.

Dotasra also claimed that people were being denied petrol and diesel worth more than Rs 1,000 at fuel stations.
