Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed the strengthening of the Police Radio Department to make the state's police system more modern, secure and technology-driven.

Chairing a high-level review meeting, Adityanath said, ''The confidentiality of police location, movement and communication activities is of top priority and there should be no possibility of any technical breach in it.''.

He instructed that the police radio network be strengthened with modern technologies and uninterrupted communication facilities be ensured even in remote areas.

Adityanath directed the development of a central dashboard for live monitoring of CCTV footage from all police stations in the state.

He said this would make law and order monitoring more effective and transparent.

The chief minister also directed further strengthening of the departmental structure for better supervision and monitoring. In this regard, the proposal to establish the headquarters of DIG Radio Eastern in Azamgarh and DIG Radio Western in Aligarh was discussed.

During the review of the work plan for the financial year 2026-27, it was informed that there is a plan to start digital wireless services in 12 districts at a cost of Rs 47 crore.

Apart from this, there is also a proposal to develop measuring equipment, 5G filters for portable communication, self-supported masts for remote police stations and hand-held wireless communication systems for Police Commissionerate Lucknow.
