AIADMK Resignations Stir Political Storm in Tamil Nadu

Tensions rise in Tamil Nadu's political landscape as four AIADMK MLAs resign to join the ruling TVK, prompting allegations of 'horse-trading.' The party, led by chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, contests the legality of these resignations, urging the Assembly Speaker to not accept them due to pending anti-defection pleas.

A fourth MLA from the AIADMK's rebel camp resigned from the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday, heightening political unrest. This follows a plea from party leader Edappadi K Palaniswami's faction to the Speaker, urging him not to accept the resignations of three AIADMK legislators who stepped down earlier.

The Palaniswami camp highlighted procedural irregularities and demanded non-acceptance of the resignations, arguing that the MLAs joined the ruling TVK prematurely. Esakki Subaya, another MLA close to rebels C Ve Shanmugam and SP Velumani, also resigned, supposedly to join TVK.

Amidst these developments, Congress MP S Jothimani criticized potential 'horse-trading,' advocating against such practices. Conversely, Speaker JCD Prabhakar maintained adherence to legal protocols, denying any resignation acceptance before their proper validation.
