The Muslim community in Kolkata marked Eid al-Adha with prayers held at mosques and Eidgahs throughout the city. Due to restrictions on road gatherings, the traditional prayer was moved from Red Road to the Brigade Parade Grounds.
Javed Khan from the Kolkata Khilafat Committee thanked the state government for facilitating alternative prayer arrangements. Security was bolstered across key locations as police managed the events smoothly, ensuring that gatherings did not disrupt traffic.
Police officers were honored by community clerics for their efforts to maintain order, especially near the Tipu Sultan Mosque. The festival proceeded under strict adherence to directives against public space prayers, reinforcing the need to balance religious practice with civic order.
