MVA Forms Alliance for Maharashtra Council Elections, Allocates 8 Seats to Congress
The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi announced its seat-sharing plan for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, with Congress contesting for the majority. This agreement covers 17 seats, while discussions within the ruling coalition are still ongoing, reportedly focused on finalizing their own distribution.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (SP), has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. Set to be held on June 18, Congress will contend for eight out of the 17 available seats.
Congress plans to vie for seats in Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Amravati, Ahilyanagar, Solapur, Dharashiv, and Nagpur, where a byelection will be held. The Shiv Sena (UBT) will aim for six seats, while the NCP targets three. The ruling BJP-NCP-Shiv Sena coalition is yet to declare its seat allocation strategy.
Nominations must be filed by June 1, with scrutiny on June 2 and withdrawal by June 4. Voting is scheduled for June 18, with results announced on June 22. Meanwhile, Congress has accused the BJP of leveraging financial power to sway the elections.
